Taste Of Lake

Taste of Lake

Lake Front TV is proud to present our new restaurant destination series-Taste of Lake.

After many years of bringing Lake County residents the popular Back of the House television series, hosted by Food Writer Valerie Hart, Lakefront TV is pleased to announce the launch of a brand new restaurant destination series, called Taste of Lake. The new weekly half-hour magazine style takes viewers all across Lake County profiling the diverse dining opportunities our county has to offer residents and visitors.

The host of the series, Gina Buell, is a sixth generation restaurateur and brings her love of food, service and people to the show.  Gina’s family owned and operated the prestigious Manuel’s and Pebbles Restaurants in Orlando amongst numerous others.  Currently, Gina and her husband, Mike, own three restaurants in The Villages, two City Fire American Oven and the new Honest John’s Whiskey and Provisions in Brownwood.

Hurricane Preparedness

Although forecasters predict this year’s hurricane season will have fewer named storms than average, it does not mean Lake County residents should remain complacent. “Even though the initial forecast appears to be lower than the average, it only takes one,” said Lake County Emergency Management Division Manager Thomas Carpenter. “It is absolutely important to prepare. The thought is there is a level of complacency because nothing has happened in a while.”

Hurricane Season 2015

-Eight storms are anticipated, and four of them are expected to be hurricanes.
-One major hurricane is expected.
-Two storms are expected to impact land.
-Lake County has a 36% chance of being hit by a tropical storm in any given year.
-Tropical storm and hurricane names: Ana, Bill, Claudette, Danny, Erika, Fred, Grace, Henri, Ida, Joaquin, Kate, Larry, Mindy, Nicholas, Odette, Peter, Rose, Sam, Teresa, Victor, and Wanda.

What’s Your Plan?

“The Blue Rhino incident and Summer Bay Resort sinkhole occurred late at night, and people had to get up and leave quickly", says Carpenter. “In the middle of the night, if you hear a large explosion, are you prepared to grab what you have and leave? That is the type of preparedness I hope everybody could achieve.”

Disaster Kit:

•One gallon of water per person per day (Plan For 5 Days)
•Non-perishable food items (Plan For 5 Days)
•Non-electric Can Opener
•NOAA Weather Radio
•Medications and Personal Needs On Hand
